Founded
Our club was founded in the fall of 1989 by Harold Buckley, Doug Price and several others who had attended the annual show at Denton and wanted to create an antique tractor club in our area.
The first pulls were held in 1990 at the Rural Retreat Fairgrounds with a borrowed sled and a lot of dedicated tractor enthusiasts.
As the pulls became better attended, the club decided it was time to build their own sled, which was done over the winter of 1991. A few years later, as the ending time of the pulls became later and later because of the number of tractors attending, the club decided to build a second sled so that both could be run at the same time.
In 1995 our club moved its pulling base to High Country Arena. We held many pulls there until 2001 when we moved back to the fairgrounds. During our years at High Country Arena our club continued to grow, with the number of hooks almost doubling for some events, from the number when the club was first formed. During this time the members also became interested in pulling garden tractors. The first year a dead weight sled was built, with sand bag weights and we held several garden tractor pulls just to see how much interest there was. There was plenty!! Since the first garden tractor pull the hooks have tripled!! After the first year of garden tractor pulling the club decided to build a transfer-weight mechanical sled. This was built during the winter of 1999.

Where we are now.
In the winter of 2000 our club decided to move back to the fairgrounds where our club was originated. Our members got very busy in March and built a pulling track, put in lights, a sound system and a registration building. Our appreciation goes out to all the members of the tractor club and the fair association who helped to make our grounds ready for the 2001 pulling season. So far, we have had a great one! Our club has made several improvements for the 2002 pulling season. We have built six sets of bleachers, a new garden sled and a new set of garden scales.

What we hope to do in the future.
Our club is dedicated to trying to keep this old machinery, a part of our history, alive and kicking (so to speak). We are always striving to find ways to make our pulls and shows better. Each winter our rules are scrutinized and updated as necessary. We want to keep up the tradition of having these old machines shown in their best and true light with no modifications. We hope to make our pulls and shows into the premier events in our area where you can view these old machines in their original state. Our pulling rules are dedicated to keeping the competition between strictly stock machines 1959 or older. What we are doing seems to be working for us and we would like to continue to grow and make our events something people can bring their children and grandchildren to and say "I remember driving one of these when I was young". We always want to make the good memories alone worth the trip to one of our shows.
